Acquire

buy or obtain (an asset or object) for oneself; learn or develop (a skill, habit, or quality)

Activism

a doctrine or practice that emphasizes direct vigorous action especially in support of or opposition to one side of a controversial issue

Archive

a collection of materials that document and preserve information about the artist's life, work, and the context in which it was created

Art

the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power

Canon

the body of official stories, characters, and events that are considered to be part of the established history and continuity

Cipher

a circle formed by performers (such as rappers or hip-hop dancers) who take turns improvising in the middle, often as part of a competition

Climate

the prevailing trend of public opinion or of another aspect of life

Concentration

a body of related artworks that demonstrate a sustained investigation of a specific visual idea or concept

Culture

the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular social group

Decorum

behavior in keeping with good taste and propriety; etiquette

Doctrine

a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a Church, political party, or other group

Fervent

having or displaying a passionate intensity

Image

Infatuation

possessed with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone

Linocut

a type of relief printmaking where an image is carved into a sheet of linoleum, then covered with ink and pressed onto paper to create a print

Media Literacy

the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication

Motif

a distinctive feature or dominant idea in an artistic or literary composition

Perspective

a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view

Point of Capture

point of view; the specific position and angle (or vantage point) from which a photographer takes a photograph

Practice

the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method, as opposed to theories relating to it

Render

the process of transforming a basic sketch or 3D model into a fully realized, believable image by adding details like light, shadow, color, and texture

Replica

a copy of a work of art that is virtually indistinguishable from the original. Unlike a fake, a replica is not trying to pass for the original and is often made by the artist and used for historical and educational purposes

a kind of pop music of African American origin with a soulful vocal style featuring improvisation

Soul

emotional or intellectual energy or intensity, especially as revealed in a work of art or an artistic performance
